Ajith join hands with vijay

Ajith is a one of the few actors in Tamil filmdom, who speaks less and let his movies do all the talking.

An actor to reckon with in the industry with a huge fan-following, he is eagerly awaiting the release of Billa, a remake of Rajnikanth's yesteryear blockbuster titled the same.

2007 has been a wonderful year for Ajith with several awards, accolades and hits going his way. He won the Filmfare award for the best actor, conferred MGR award by the State government, 'Azhwar', 'Kireedom' hit the screens and 'Billa' ready to take wings.

In an enthusiastic mood, the actor called on media persons in Chennai Friday. Over to Ajit now:

On the pressure factor doing the remake of a Rajnikanth film:

“I was actually thrilled to work in it. No sooner we decided to do the remake of 'Billa', we called on Rajnikanth immediately. He blessed us to go ahead with the project, which gave us the courage. So there was no pressure factor in me.”

Whether 'Billa' was an attempt to step in to the shoes of Super Star?

Certainly not. Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan are role models for the contemporary actors. We can only emulate them. The idea to do the remake of Billa struck me a few years ago. It took shape only now.

On the plethora of remake movies and remix songs in Kollywood:

I was impressed watching the remix of yesteryear’s song Thottal Poo Malarum by A R Rahman. It struck me immediately that when a three-minute song can be retuned and remixed to become a big hit, why not a yesteryear movie.

Will he act with Vijay again?

No. We both are good friends. We have great respect for each other but have adopted different style and approach. There is only a healthy competition between us. There is little possibility of both acting together as we are busy with various assignments.

Next movie?

It will be for Ayngaran International. Choreographer Raju Sundaram will direct the movie.
