Movie launch directly on net

Hollywood has now started following a new business model of directly releasing the films through internet. The latest forthcoming movie Jackass will have a different release and Paramount Pictures on plans of releasing this movie direct on Internet. Jackass 2.5, the latest sequel in its successful franchise, will be distributed onto the Internet first, then on DVD. The movie will skip a theatrical release altogether. Thomas Lesinski, President of Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment says they are the pioneers releasing a movie for the first time through Broadband and then simultaneously through DVDs. And then the movie would be simultaneously released in theatres.

Sources close to Paramount Pictures stated that the online release as a test of the Internet as a legitimate outlet for original film distribution. It stated: “When all is said and done, (Jackass) 2.5 could end up a milestone in Hollywood’s transition to digital media or an overly ambitious mishap.”
