Lekha Washington's transition from the small screen to the silver screen is delayed due to unexpected reasons. But those who know her only as a VJ would be in for a surprise as this talented lady holds a post-graduate degree in direction. When she was questioned as to why she did not prefer direction when many women prefer the same as a career nowadays, Lekha said that she has directed many short films, the most recent one being in Burmese language. She also revealed that she would direct a Tamil film, though not in the near future. Other than academics, she is good at sculpturing clay models based on the modern art. In fact, Lekha has several exhibitions to her credit.

With Silambarasan's Kettavan stalled for the time-being and it is widely rumored that she is out of the project; Lekha insists that she has no news from the actor regarding it. Meanwhile, the actress is doing Jayam kondaan, a film directed by Kannan, an assistant of Mani Ratnam.
