kuselan never a trouble

Reacting to media reports and the press statements released by the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association on allegations that Pyramid Saimira refused to distribute the compensation for Kuselan's failure, P.S. Swaminathan said that there were no fault on his side. He clarified that the compensation was distributed to all the distributors

across the state and Pyramid Saimira was in no way concerned with the theatre owners. Even after knowing this very well, the theatre owners have blown this issue out of proportion, he claimed.

He also disclosed that the compensation were given to the distributors in North Arcot, Trichy and Coimbatore areas as the agreement was between Pyramid Saimira and distributors only. Mr. Swaminathan added that any further allegations will attract penal action from Pyramid Saimira

There had been a few jitters in the Endhiran camp following the global economic meltdown and its concomitant effect on Ayngaran. There had been doubts as to when the third schedule, slated to begin on the 16th of the month would actually take off. Now, new developments suggest that damage control has effectively set in and there might not be much to fear.

The management of Ayngaran has reportedly asked Shankar about the exact requirements of the schedule. This is being done as a measure to tighten purse strings to ensure that no problems are encountered during later stages of shooting. So, the third schedule, set in the pristine snow clad valleys of Kulu Manali is expected to take off on the 20th of this month, after a four day delay. Looking at how big the problems being faced by the industry in general are (Marmayogi being all but shelved being an indicator of the magnitude) this four day delay is not much.

Shankar plans to shoot a duet featuring Superstar and Aishwarya Rai in some never before tried locations in Kulu Manali, trust Shankar to surprise us. The visuals will definitely have the rich and grand stamp of the master director.

Ready 4 directors directors cut : Varanam ayiram

Vaaranam Aayiram has hit the screens finally, and the talk among fans and viewers is that it is too long. While the audience enjoyed the song and several moments in the film, they seem to find it a bit more of an emotional drama extending for more than 150 minutes. It's just a few screenings old and now the VA team has cut 15 minutes of the film. One sequence that is trimmed in the new version is Suriya searching for a child in Delhi.

However, it is important to note that though Gautham Menon allowed the producer to cut the film, he still feels it takes away the intensity and the feel from the film. He wishes that the audience could see it as he conceived it. Perhaps if the movie becomes a big hit, it's just possible that the cut fifteen minutes will be restored. Or say, years later, Menon could release it as Vaaranam Aayiram: The Director's Cut.

An interview with the up coming :Saranya mohan

Sharanya Mohan made her screen debut when she was eight years old in Faazil’s Kaadalukku Mariyadai as Shalini’s niece. As Nayanthara’s sister vying for Dhanush’s attention in Yaaradi Nee Mohini, she captivated the attention of audience. Currently this upcoming actress’s kitty is full with plum assignments like Aa aaa yi yee, Mahesh saranya matrum palar, Panjamirtham, Eerum, Arumugam, Vennila Kabadi kuzhu etc. Saranya in an exclusive interview with Behindwoods.

About you/ your family

My family is small. My dad Mohan, mom Devika and younger sister Sukanya. My mom is a trained dancer and is running a dance school at Alleppey. I have also learnt Bharathnatyam, and have even completed arangetram. I am also a trained Carnatic music singer.

How did you enter films?

Fazil sir visited our dance school at Alleppey and saw me dancing and approached my mom to permit me to act in films. As I was very young mom heisted initially but due to the reputation that Fazil sir has in Tamil and Malayalam film industry, my mom agreed and that’s how I was cast as Shalini’s niece in Kaadalukku Mariyaadai which was a great hit.

What about your subsequent films in Tamil?

My next film in Tamil was again under Fazil sir’s direction Oru Naal Oru Kanavu with Srikanth and Sonia Agarwal. I was one of the three sisters of Srikanth. I feel very fortunate to be featuring in ‘Katril Varum geetham’ number scored by Ilayaraja sir. Following this, a solo number ‘Paalakkattu Pakkathile’ with Dhanush in Yaaradi Nee Mohini catapulted me to the zones of visibility. Nayanthara appreciated my performance in this number. After this, I had a serious dilemma whether to join the industry or not but have decided to be in the industry for quite some time.

What are your current projects?

There is a big list. Under A V M banner, I am doing Aa aaa yi yee, Mahesh Saranya matrum palar with Vasu sir’s son Shakthi, Abirami Ramanadan’s Panjamirtham, Shankar productions Eerum, Arumugam directed by Suresh Krishna and Vennila kabadi kuzhu. I am donning varied characters in these films. No two films are alike. In addition to these I am getting offers from Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. But I want to be careful in choosing my scripts and like to concentrate in Tamil right now.

Are you continuing your education? Don’t you think films may affect your studies?

I am doing my B.A. in English literature at Alleppey. I try to balance both education and my career. My college is very cooperative and my classmates help with lessons when I am not attending college. I just want to clear my papers without arrears. I hope I am able to achieve that. I do not have bigger dreams than that.

What are the characters that you would like to essay?

I want to take on roles that would best suit me. Primarily I need to earn a good name in the industry for my professionalism. I will not do any glamorous roles.

What about love and gossip?

Oh no, I am a young girl and I don’t want to be involved in anything that would hamper my career. I love and respect my parents a lot and will never go against their wishes. I like to read ‘kisu kisu’ but please do not write anything about me and I am also sure that I will not give room for that.
