That’s the new sensation in Bollywood. Someone said that Amitabh Bachchan must contemplate retirement and that has kicked up a storm that is unlikely to die down until the person who started it comes out and offers an explanation or an apology.

Nearly every Kamal film has required extensive makeup but nothing like Dasavatharam. It took nothing less than three hours each for the star to put on make up and take it off. And he had to sit still for the entire process. And this time it wasn’t only Kamal who had to undergo this ordeal but actor Napoleon who plays a King in the film, who required make up that took more than four hours.

If you thought that was fun, wait till you hear the kind of time editing and postproduction demanded: there are several scenes that require different Kamal Hassans to appear together. Though the different costumes and make up were shot on different locations, to bring them together the post production crew and the director had to spend thrice the number of hours at the studio. For instance, it is reported that director K.S. Ravikumar had to view each frame 1000 times to make sure that everything about it matched! Well, we’re sure all the effort was worth it, and something spectacular awaits us.

Will asin continue in tamil cinema ?

The recently held protest Unnaviradam by Kollywood fraternity drew attention from everywhere. The South Indian film artists association had stressed on compulsory participation from all the stars during the protest, failing which they were asked to give an explanation to the union.

Some of the prominent absentees are directors K Balachander, Mani Ratnam, Shankar and Bharathiraja. From the actor's side Asin, Arya, Karthik, Simran, Navya Nair, Gopika, Padmapriya and Nila wereconspicuous by their absence. When the council met on the 8th of April, there was a discussion on the type of action to be taken against these members and it wasdecided to seek a written explanation from these people within 15 days. It was said that many of them had submitted their explanation except perhaps Asin!While talking about this issue, Radha Ravi who is the General Secretary of the union said that suitable action would be taken against Asin once Sarathkumar returns to Chennai. Whether she would actually be banned from acting in Tamil films is something we’ll just have to wait and find out.

AMITHAB REFUSES PRODUCER OFFER

Dasavatharam, the much hyped film of Kamal Haasan will soon hit the theatres and the audio release of the film is slated for the 25th of April with many national and international celebrities scheduled to attend the event. An impressive set has been erected in the Nehru Indoor stadium and the entire crew is working overtime to make the show a phenomenal success.

As revealed to the media earlier, Jackie Chan will be the guest of honor along with Bollywood and Kollywood luminaries. Amitabh Bachchan will also be making his august presence on the audio release and as per producer Oscar Ravichandran, the legendary actor has proved once again that he stands tall among his contemporaries not only in physical stature but also in thought, word and deed. When Ravichandran offered to foot all his expenses associated with his Chennai visit, Amitabh very graciously refused and stated that it is customary for him to take care of his expenses whenever he visits such functions. Needless to say, Dasavatharam crew is completely floored by this gesture of this senior actor.

Kamal reveals dhasavatharam story

Kamal is busy with the post production work and the audio launch of Dasavatharam. Amidst his busy schedule, he took time off to talk about this much coveted project to a popular daily ¬– The Hindu. In the interview with Malathi Rangarajan, he says that his story telling techniques are time tested and would keep it simple.

For the first time, the actor lets us know what Dasavatharam is about putting all speculations to rest. He disclosed that the film deals with environment, science and religion. In his own words, “Dasavatharam has a lot of Al Gore in it, and also Ramanujar.” It is also interesting to note Kamal’s statement that has explored religion at great length in the film.

Having penned the story, screenplay and dialogues, Kamal said that working on the screenplay was the toughest part, as the subject itself was very complex. This out of the ordinary story line should be another reason to draw the crowds to the theaters.

News about Dasavatharam has been attracting everyone’s attention right from day one. It is now official that its audio release will be sometime in March and the release date is set as April 10th. With just a few post-production work remaining to be done, looks like director K.S. Ravikumar is moving towards other projects.His next would be for Radaan Pictures with Sarathkumar playing the protagonist. Sarath, also busy with two projects, is expected to be free right on time to team up with K.S. Ravi Kumar, as his Vaitheeswaran has already been completed and another venture 1977 is almost nearing completion.

Sources say that story discussions are on between Radaan and K.S. Ravikumar. The film is expected to hit the floors after the release of Dasavatharam. It is worth mentioning that Sarath-Ravikumar duo has already given enough hits like Naattamai and Natpukkaga.

Dhasavadhram secrets are finally revealed

Kamal Haasan, brand ambassador for Project “Hridaya Ragam – 2008”, surprised everyone present at a charity function held this evening at Greenpark Hotel, Chennai, when he agreed to talk a little bit about Dasavatharam.The project’s aim is to raise money for a 100 free heart surgeries for poor children. Malayalam Manorama said that they would like to raise funds for another 25 free paediatric heart surgeries.

As the evening drew to a close, people began to ask Kamal about Dasavatharam, Kamal replied with amusement that everywhere he went he was unfailingly asked about the movie, and his answer has always remained the same: that he can’t reveal anything yet. But this evening all that changes, he said suddenly, surprising everyone there. The film will be released in April, he added, and the audio in March. He went on to praise the work of young music composer Himesh Reshammiya.

Kamal Haasan, busy supervising the post-production work for his Dasavatharam, isn’t even seen at public events as often. He seems fully immersed in the project. This project has been delayed so much that it has almost slipped out of the audiences’ minds and has let the official announcement do the talking. Even talks of his next film after Dasavatharam have quiesced.

With our eyes closed, we can clearly utter 2008 is gonna be a great year for actress Asin. Well, her Dasavatharam is sure to take her to the heights and Hindi remake of Ghajini would make Bollywood’s light of success shine on her. Buzzes are that, apart from this Hindi movie, she has been bounded with plenty of acting offers in Hindi.

But she seems to be quite determinant that only after the release of Ghajini, she would be deciding to take up the offers. Also her shifting of house from Harrington Road in Chennai to Andheri has created a great sensation among the tinsel town that she would get herself set in Bollywood.
